Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Chandio Advocate has filed power on behalf of D.S Railway, which is taken on record.
Mr. Mohammad Ali Shaikh DAG along with Mr. Saeed Akhtar G.M Pakistan Railway, Mr. Aftab Ahmed Memon D.S Railway, Mr. Fateh Mohammad Divisional Personal Officer Karachi and Mr. Tariq Ahmed A.O (Pension) Karachi, Mr. Muhammad Shafi Lashari Regional Operation Chief NBP Larkana and Miss. Saeeda Manager NBP Kotri.
We have heard the General Manager Pakistan Railway, who has stated that on the direction of this Court, the Deputy Chief Accounts Officer Pakistan Railway has issued directives to all the Divisional Accounts Officers to disburse the amount of pension of their employees on or before 25th of each calendar month to the relevant branches of the Bank so that delay in disbursement of the pension is avoided which is causing problems to the retired employees of the Railway.
The Regional Operation Chief National Bank of Pakistan present states that he has issued directives to the different branches of the region which deals with the disbursement of the pension that the pension should be disbursed to all the retired officials by 1st of each calendar month. Any complaint in this respect if received by this Court in future would expose the Regional Operation Chief to contempt proceedings.
We also direct the President National Bank of Pakistan to ensure that all retired employees of the government/semi government and or other corporations who are drawing pension or other allied amounts from different branches of National Bank of Pakistan shall disburse it by 1st of each calendar month. The President shall improve the working of the branches in this respect by providing infra structure to cope with the situation and in future, no complaint of delay in payment of pension should be received.
We direct the President National Bank of Pakistan to issue directives to all the regional Heads of National Bank of Pakistan to comply with the directives of this Court. A copy of such directives be sent to this Court through Additional Registrar reflecting that the orders of this Court have been communicated to all the concerned through their Regional Managers.
This petition stands disposed of in the above terms. The showcause notice issued stands vacated.
